Hey All 🙂 I have been MIA for the longest time now due to various reasons but this post I hope would make it up for all the lack of posts from past few days 😛 Here I am with the review and swatches of the ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip in Beeper, Clueless, Bumble, Bad Habit and Viper ! I have a few more shades which I would be receiving in couple of days so watch out for that 😛 Read on to find out if these liquid lipsticks are worth all the hype.

Review of ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip in Beeper, Clueless, Bumble, Bad Habit and Viper:
Packaging: Comes in a see through sleek packaging which makes it easier to spot the colour you are looking to wear. Apart from their limited edition collection, all the Ultra Mattes have the same packaging. The doe foot applicator is not the most convenient to use like the Lakme 9 to 5 Matte Mousse one, but it still does a decent job of picking up enough product for one layer or application.
Texture, Finish & Longevity: The texture of the Colourpop Ultra Mattes differ from one shade to another, slightly though. Beeper, Clueless and Viper are liquidy in texture once out of the tube and apply evenly without feeling heavy or thick. They settle to a completely dry matte finish within 30 seconds of application and feels light on the lips.
Bad habit comes out liquidy in texture from the tube, applies evenly but takes a longer time to dry completely which is around a minute. This is the least drying shade out of all the other shades from the range. I do not feel the urge to apply a lip balm over it for more than 3 hours, but with the other shades I usually layer a lip balm well within 2 hours of wear.
Bumble is the shade which has a slightly thicker consistency right out of the tube and though it applies evenly, still feels a little heavy on the lips. It again dries out within few seconds and settles to a completely matte finish.
All the shades are quite drying on the lips so make sure you have exfoliated and moisturised your lips very well prior to the application. Also, most of the shades settle down to a shade darker after a few minutes of application.
They all settle down to a completely matte, transferproof finish within seconds and stays on for good 5 to 6 hours on the lips, after which it starts to flake off from the center of the lips. But with a dab of lip balm over the lips once in few hours can extend the wear up to 8 hours, yeah crazy! These liquid lipsticks also leave behind a very strong tint, so one needs to use an oil based makeup remover or cleanser to get it off completely.
The major con however is the availability of the Colourpop cosmetics in India, at the same price as offered by the brand. The Insta stores usually sell them for double the price and the international shipping comes with its own disadvantages of shipping charges and customs!
Overall, the Colourpop Ultra Matte liquid lipsticks are worth a try since they have an extensive shade range right from the nudes to the most quirkiest shades you could imagine 😛 However I found them to be excessively drying so I prefer the Colourpop Ultra Satin Lips over these 🙂
Reference: My shade is between NC40 and NC42 in MAC foundations.
ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip in Clueless:
Colourpop describes it as a “dusty mauve”
It is a perfect dusty-mauve shade for someone with Fair to Fair-Medium skin tones and would wash out anyone over Medium-deep skin tone. It also looks a little washed out on my skin tone as well, but I could make it work with a darker lip liner or lipstick beneath it.
ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip in Beeper:
Colourpop describes it as a “greige rose”
It appears as a greyish brown shade on my skin tone. For someone with lighter complexions it would look a flattering grungy-brown but definitely washes out the duskier skin tones.
Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip in Bumble:
Colourpop describes it as a “warm rose”
It is more of a warm terracotta shade and would look flattering on all skin tones. Applies slightly thick, so you could smudge it a little with your fingers before it dries down.
Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip in Bad Habit:
Colourpop describes it as a “dusty mauve pink”
This shade is a gorgeous deep berry pink with mauve undertones, which is still very much wearable. It looks particularly amazing on beauties with deeper skin tones. However this shade would look flattering on all skin tones.
Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip in Viper:
Colourpop describes it as a “true dusty rose”
This shade settles down to 2 shades darker on my lips and is a deep mauve shade with purple undertones! This would look stunning on beauties with medium and deep skin tones. However it would be a bold shade for someone with lighter skin tones.
Which is your favourite shade from Ultra mattes?
